Shaped Painting 1988–2001

Shaped Painting

A primary issue in the 1988-89 series of eight shaped paintings on aluminum, was to call attention to Earth’s environment and our abuse of it. The shaped paintings on wood panels that followed this series, suggest a more positive attitude and outlook. They are abstract paintings primarily about a coastal environment. Conceptually the format incorporates the use of eight triangles formed from an original 48 inch square and the displacement of one triangle to form a variety of related unique painting surfaces.
